Dr Lorraine Hudson

Lorraine is a part time Research Associate for the Open University’s MK:Smart project where she is currently developing a Smart Cities MOOC (a free online course for FutureLearn) and she is also an Associate Lecturer in Environmental Sciences.  

Lorraine also works as a freelance consultant specialising in sustainability and smart cities through Hudson Sustainability Consulting. She previously worked for Bristol City Council managing Smart City Bristol, a collaborative programme between the public sector, business and community, using smart technologies and digital connectivity to meet the city’s sustainability challenges through a citizen centred approach. The programme focussed on smart energy, smart transport and smart data and included a £3m Future City Demonstrator.

Prior to this she coordinated Bristol’s Climate Change and Green ICT programmes.

Lorraine holds a PhD in Atmospheric Chemistry and is a Visiting Fellow in Future Cities at the University of Bristol.
